(a) The desert region of Rajasthan is the largest wool producing area in India. The total wool production in India, 40-50% comes from Rajasthan. (b). Various breeds of sheep are found in this region. The wool of Chokla breed among them is of superior quality. To produce still better wool, there are breeding centers for the renowned Merino sheep at Suratgarh and Bikaner. (c). Woolen thread mills have been established at Jodhpur and Bikaner.
(d). Sheep grazing is an important occupation in Rajasthan. Owing to these reasons, wool industry has developed in Rajasthan.
