Question

Why I'd uniform circular motion accelerated

Open in App
Solution

Dear student,
Yes, the uniform circular motion is an accelerated motion because in this type of motion the object is moving in a circular path and is having a constant speed. But, since it is a circular path the direction of the object is continuously changing and this change in direction leads to a change in velocity at every moment of the motion in the circular path. The change in velocity with respect to time leads to the acceleration of the object. The force which keeps the object in its circular track moving is called centripetal force and the acceleration of the body due to this force is called as the centripetal acceleration. Thus, the uniform circular motion is accelerated.
