Solution

  1. The heat required by a body to convert its state from solid to liquid is called the latent heat of fusion.
  2. In case of state conversion, the heat given to the body does not increase the temperature of the body.
  3. Cooling takes place when heat is released from a body.
  4. Ice at 00C takes heat first to convert itself into water at 00C and then at higher temperatures due to the latent heat of ice.
  5. Ice at 00C can keep a drink cooler for a longer time than water at 00C , therefore ice is preferred than water at 00C to make our drinks cooler.
