Question

Why insulators are used as covering for electric wires?

Open in App
Solution

  1. Insulators are bad conductors of electricity and they do not allow electricity to pass through them.
  2. For safety purposes, wires in our household have a covering of insulators (mostly rubber) to protect us from getting shocked.
  3. The main reason for covering is to prevent accidental contact with other conductors of electricity.
