Question

Why ionic bond can not be formed between two nonmetals?

Open in App
Solution

An ionic bond is formed when an electron lost by one element is gained by another. In the case of two nonmetals, they both lose electrons so no electron transfer takes place. Thus an ionic bond can not be formed between two non-metals.
