Open in App
Solution

Dear student,

When an iron nail dipped in the copper sulphate solution than iron displaces copper from the copper sulphate because iron is more reactive as compared to copper. The Fe 2+ will go into the solution and Cu2+ will get deposited on the iron nail. Therefore the colour of the copper sulphate solution changes from blue colour to reddish-brown colour.
The reaction involved as follows.
Fe + CuSO4 ------> FeSO4+Cu
