why is a low reactive metal found as sulphide ore but not as carbonate or oxygen?

Low reactive metals show little affinity towards air, water and carbon dioxide present in atmosphere.But they are reactive enough to react with the non metals present like Sulphur. Hence, low reactive metals are found as Sulphide Ore but not as carbonate or oxide.
