Question

Why is a region with higher temperature charcterised by a lower air pressure?

Open in App
Solution

Understand that due to the higher temperature, the region becomes rarefied as there is movement of air. The atmospheric pressure is due to the pressure exerted by the air molecules on earth. As the region becomes rarefied, the number of molecules present in that region becomes less. Thus the pressure exerted by the atmospheric air in that region becomes less.
