Question

Why is air denser at lower level than at higher altitude?

Open in App
Solution

Altitude is height above sea-level. The density of air decrease with height. The reason are at higher altitude there is less air pushing down from above and the gravity is weaker further from Earth's center. So, at higher altitudes air molecules can spread out more and air density decreases.
