Question

Why is an electric field inside a cylindrical capacitor not uniform?

Open in App
Solution

From my understanding, if the inner cylinder has a net positive charge of Q and the outer cylinder has a net negative charge -Q then the electric field inside the cylindrical capacitor will extend from the inner cylinder to the outer cylinder, increasing in strength from radius R to radius r. So, it's not uniform.
