Open in App
Solution

Binomial nomenclature is defined as the system of nomenclature where every living organism is given a name of two terms of which the first term denotes genus of that organism to which it belongs and the second term is the species name itself.

According to this system, every botanical are given a two-word Latin name based on their observable characteristics. This two-word naming system helped the scientists across the world to follow a unique code for naming plants so that they are certain that they are talking about the same plant. This system is also extended for naming bacteria, archaea and other life forms. With the use of this system living things were easy to characterize and categorize and the names were easy to remember and learn as there was only one unique name for that life form. The two-word system has a first word that describes its genus or genera whereas the second name describes its species name.
