Blood is needed by all parts of the body as it is an important part of the circulatory system of our body. It performs the following functions:
(1) It carries oxygen from the lungs to the cells of the body.
(2) It carries carbon dioxide, a waste product back to the lungs so that it can be exhaled.
(3) It helps in regulating the body temperature
(4) It also fights off infections and diseases.
(5) It forms clots and covers the wounds preventing the loss of more blood.
