Bone Matrix-

  1. Bone cells are embedded in a hard matrix consisting of a collagenous protein complex called ossein and minerals, this is a crystalline complex of phosphate and calcium and is responsible for the hardness and rigidity of the bone.
  2. A calcified bone consists of 5% of water, 25% in the organic matrix, and 70% of inorganic minerals.
