Chemical change:

  • A change in which the chemical composition of a substance changes and a new substance is formed is known as chemical change. For example, curdling of milk, rusting of iron.
  • Burning of paper is a chemical change because as a result of burning, ash is formed as a new chemical substance.
  • During burning, Carbon react with hydrogen and oxygen, turning them into Carbon dioxide (CO2) and water.
  • These changes are irreversible and ash can not be converted back to the original substance.
