Open in App
Solution

Greenhouse effect

Certain gases in the air such as water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, and ozone, absorb heat. This is a natural process and keeps the earth warm, without it the earth would be 30°C colder on average. This warming effect is called the greenhouse effect and the gases are called greenhouse gases.

Carbon dioxide is known as a greenhouse gas because it helps to trap heat from the atmosphere. This property of Carbon dioxide helps to maintain a comfortable and warm temperature on earth.
