Question

why is carbon dioxide not inhaled by humans?

Open in App
Solution

Dear student

We humans inhale oxygen because our body metabolism need oxygen for biological processes so as to produce ATP, the energy currency of cells. In the process, electrons are used and oxygen has a high affinity for electrons. The waste products of this process are Carbon Dioxide and Water which are used by plants so as to maintain balance in ecosystem.
Also lungs contain the alveolar sac in which the respiratory pigment i.e. Heamoglobing only take up the oxygen in the exchange of carbondioxide.
So we exhale CO2 and inhale O2.
