Question
Why is cooling produced on evaporation of liquid?
Open in App
Solution
Liquid requires energy to evaporate. During this phase-changing process, liquid utilizes the
latent heat of evaporation
.
During evaporation, energy(heat) from the surroundings is used up for this purpose.
Thus the heat content is reduced, which produces a cooling effect.
