Question

Why is cytoplasm called shock absorber

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,

Cytoplasm is a complex viscous fluid in which various cell organelles are embedded. It contains 70% water, the remaining portion is made up of proteins, carbohydrates, and lipids. Cytoplasm shields the cell organelles and prevents them from damaging during the cell movement. If cytoplasm is not present, the organelles may bounce or hit to each other and tissues surrounding them. Therefore, it is called as a shock absorber.
