Why is energy released when new bonds are formed ?

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student
When a chemical reaction takes place at first bonds are broken and then new bonds are formed. During bond breaking energy are released and during bond making energy is accepted but released energy is more than that of accepted. So energy is released when new bonds are formed. Due to this reason most of the bonds are exothermic in nature.
