Solution

The Structure of DNA

DNA is a double-stranded molecule, made up of two single chained molecules wrapping around one another. This is called a double helix structure, each strand of the helix consists of four different bases and the strands are connected to one another via a backbone consisting of sugar molecules.

Importance of DNA copying:

  • It is an important phenomenon of reproduction through which the organisms pass on their characteristics to their offspring.
  • It is an essential part of the reproduction process because an organism’s entire genetic information is contained within the DNA.
  • It maintains the characteristics in different generations of the species.
  • It also produces variations that are useful for the survival of species for a long time. Variation for the species is beneficial for adaptation and better survival. It may result in the formation of new species
