Question

Why is frequency not affected by medium?

Open in App
Solution

Frequency: The quantity of electrical waves that occur in a second is known as frequency.

  1. The relationship between velocity v, wavelength λ and frequency f is v=fλ.
  2. When light travels between two dissimilar media, the wavelength reduces proportionately to the proportional decrease in velocity.
  3. The wavelength to velocity ratio will always be a constant. Frequency is nothing more than the relationship between light's wavelength and velocity.
  4. There is no doubt that the frequency is independent of the medium.

Thus, The frequency is not affected by the medium.
