Question

Why is hearing affected while going up or coming down from the hills?

Open in App
Solution

-Since the pressure on hills is less, while going up a hill, air from inside our body tries moving out to equalise pressure and hence applies force on eardrums from inside thus, affecting our hearing.

-The atmospheric pressure at the top of the hill is less than that at sea level. While coming down from a hill, the pressure at the bottom is high compared to the pressure inside the ear. This change in pressure causes a momentary hearing problem or ear pain.
