Physical change When a matter undergoes a change in shape, size, and colour and there is no formation of any new substance is referred to as physical change.
Heating an Iron rod is a physical change
The heating of an iron rod is a physical change because it only changes to red hot colour when heated but no new chemical substance is formed and no chemical reaction takes place.
When cooled at room temperature the red hot colour again disappears and iron returns to its original state.
