Solution

Sigmoid curve :

  1. It looks like a s shape curve which is used to describe or determine the population growth pattern.
  2. The rate of growth of population i.e whether it is slow or fast is determined by the shape of the curve.

Humans have been able to reduce some factors of environmental resistance and hence not showing a sigmoid curve for the human population. The human population has reached an unmanageable proportion because:

  1. An increase in agricultural production has helped to overcome food shortages.
  2. Better public health and medical attention have increased life expectancy.
  3. Decline in the death rate has occurred by overcoming several bacterial and viral fatal diseases through community health programs.
