Hydroponics:

  1. Hydroponics is a nontraditional farming method used to cultivate crops perennially without soil.
  2. Plants are grown in an inert medium and supplied with nutrient-rich solutions, oxygen, and water.
  3. This method consumes relatively very less water.
  4. hydroponics consumes 10 folds less water than a traditional irrigation system.
  5. Therefore there is a high degree of water utilization in farming via hydroponics.
  6. Hydroponics reuses the water and captures it preventing wastage.
  7. Hence, water wastage due to runoff is avoided.
  8. Hydroponics also produces higher yields of 3 to 10 folds in short durations with more nutritional value.
  9. The nutritional value of the crops can be monitored by increasing or decreasing the harvesting time and consumption.
  10. This system also does not need pest control or pest control.
  11. Hence, they are good for the environment.
