Question

why is ice denser than solid

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,
The ice is less dense than that of water or any other molecules because on solidification , the water molecules orient themselves in the form of cage like structures , this cage like structure has air spaces which makes the ice less dense and thus it floats on surface of water.
