Question

Why is it difficult to walk on a wet marble floor?

Open in App
Solution

Friction is created due to irregularities in the two surfaces in contact. We can walk on a floor when sufficient friction is present there. So, less friction, more difficult it is to walk and a higher chance of slipping.

On a wet marble floor, the friction is very less because marble floor has irregularities that get filled with water. We can walk only when there is more friction. Due to the less friction, we may slip. So, it is very difficult to walk on a wet marble floor.
