"When you become a somebody, you invite adulation: this then begins to
bog you down. The moment you think you have arrived, you begin to
stagnate, or, worse, your downslide begins. An endless list of writers,
artists, sportsmen, politicians... fit this pattern of personal history."
Emily Dickinson writes in her poem, that by becoming a somebody
we're making ourselves more like the public. The admiration that we seek
would eventually bog us down, weigh us down, and that would ultimately
lead to our downfall.
So, in order to truly become somebody, we need to temporarily leave this race, and become the best versions of our own selves.
Even if we become a somebody, like everyone else, we should still remember that there is a power more superior to us, and that gaining fame and power is not the ultimate goal in life.
