Question

Why is it more helpful to know a tornado's velocity rather than its speed ?

Open in App
Solution

It would be important to know the velocity because velocity includes direction. Knowing only the speed of a tornado would not tell the direction that the tornado is travelling. Knowing a tornado's direction of travel would allow people to avoid or escape its path.
