Why is it necessary for the seed to go some period of dormancy or physiological maturation??

Solution

Dear Anu, this is necessary as physiological maturity involves biochemical changes leading to metabolic “adjustments” after seeds reach their maximum dry weight. Enzymes and food reserve whatever is needed to support the plant post germination is synthesised in this period.
