Why is it necessary to maintain a normal osmotic concentration of the blood?
Maintaining a normal osmotic concentration in the body means regulating the percentage of water and salts. If this regulation mechanism fails we either end up losing vital salts and water or may accumulate unwanted salts and excess water in our bodies. If it is not maintained, the cell may gain or lose the water and get destroyed. For example, RBC will gain water when osmotic pressure is high and burst and get destroyed and resulting in death.
