Solution
Respiration in plants
Plants like other animals also respire.
Plants also need energy.
The plants get energy through the process of respiration in which glucose food breaks down in the presence of oxygen to form carbon dioxide and water with the release of energy.
This energy is used by the plant for carrying out its various life processes.
In plants CO2 is released during respiration but at the same time photosynthesis also occurs in which the CO2 which was released is consumed by the plant.
Hence, it is difficult to demonstrate respiration in green plants during the daytime but it is easy to demonstrate the process of respiration during the night because at night no photosynthesis occurs in the plant.
