Question

Why is it wrong to treat a bee sting with vinegar?

Open in App
Solution

  • When a honey-bee stings a person, it injects an acid into the skin.
  • Thus, vinegar being acidic cannot be used to treat a bee sting.
  • In place of vinegar (Acetic acid - CH3COOH) rubbing a mild base like baking soda solution on the affected area of the skin provides relief.
