Question

Why is Lawrencium considered as an actinoid even though its electronic configuration is different from other actinoides?

Open in App
Solution

Lawrencium is placed at the last of the 7th group because it behaves as the heavier homologue to leutenium that is above it in the periodic table. It is also a trivalent atom like Leutenium. However it electronic configuration is an exception. There are many exceptions in the periodic table and this is just one of them.
