Why is Mother Teresa called the saint of the gutters?
Mother Teresa was known as “The Saint of the Gutters” because of her work and help for the lower community people. She took care of the people who were ill. She is still recognized for her hard work and selfless services. She was also awarded the highest civilian Indian award, “Bharat Ratan” on account of her services to humankind. She received this prestigious award in the year 1980. Mother Teresa died on 5 September 1997 at the age of 87 years in Calcutta(Kolkata), West Bengal, India
