Question

Why is negligible heat produced in connected wires of Cu?

Open in App
Solution

  1. The heat is produced in any conducting wires because of the action of resistance when the current is passed through the conductor.
  2. Therefore, the greater the resistance, the greater will be the heat produced in a conductor.
  3. Copper is a good conductor of electricity and hence it is used in transferring electricity.
  4. Copper offers very low resistance and hence, negligible heat is produced in the connecting wires.
