Question

Why is photosynthesis important to humans?

Open in App
Solution

Photosynthesis:

  1. Photosynthesis is the process through which light energy (solar energy) is transformed into chemical energy.
  2. It is the basis for all life on earth.
  3. For autotrophs to live, photosynthesis is necessary.
  4. Humans depend on photosynthesis to make the food they consume, as a source of energy to produce heat, light, and electricity, on a daily basis.
  5. Additionally, autotrophs are producers in almost all food chains, therefore this mechanism is essential for humans as well.
  6. Since oxygen, a necessary component for both animal and human survival, is released as a byproduct of photosynthesis, it is crucial for both people and animals.
  7. For breathing, all life on earth needs oxygen.
