Pyramid of Energy: The pyramid which shows the energy accumulation by organisms of different trophic levels is called pyramid of energy. The consumers (primary, secondary and tertiary) of trophic levels, food chain, utilise 90% of energy obtained by food materials in respiration and store only remaining 10% energy. The primary producers in any ecosystem are characterised by maximum energy and the quantity of energy at each successive level of consumers goes on decreasing. So, the pyramid of energy is always upright.
