Respiration as an energy-giving process:

  1. During respiration, glucose is oxidised to release energy in the form of ATP.
  2. Hence, by the breakdown of glucose energy is released in this process.
  3. The reaction for respiration can be denoted by the equation: Glucose + Oxygen → Carbon dioxide + Energy + Water
