Why is rolling a cylinder easier than pushing a cube of the same mass and same material?

Solution

Sliding friction between two surfaces is always greater than rolling friction between them for the same mass and same material objects.

Therefore, rolling a cylinder is easier as compared to pushing the cube since rolling friction is acting in the first case, and sliding in the later.
