Question

Why is shadow black in colour?

Open in App
Solution

  1. A shadow is caused by an object when it blocks light so that it does not reach the surface.
  2. The area in shadow appears black because there is no light falling on it.
  3. It appears dark. In fact, all shadows are not totally black because light usually bounces around the obstruction of other objects.
