SHM:
Simple harmonic motion is the periodic motion of a particle toward a mean position under the influence of a restoring force which is proportional to its displacement.
SHM is important because of the following reasons:
- It is important to model oscillations for research in wind turbines and vibration in car suspension.
- SHM is used in pendulum clocks to tell the time because the time period of every SHM is constant.
- The process of hearing is impossible with simple harmonic motion. Our eardrum vibrates back and forth because soundwaves that enter our cause the eardrum to vibrate.
Thus SHM is important.
