Question

Why is SO2 more acidic than SeO2

Open in App
Solution

Because SO2 dissolves in water to form sulfurous acid
SO2 + H2O -> H2SO3.
whereas SeO2 less soluble in water forming selenic acid,
sulfurous acid is a stronger oxidiser than selenic acid
therefore SO2 more acidic than SeO2
