Why is spore formation in bacteria not considered a form of reproduction?

Solution

The bacterial spore is formed in response to adverse conditions and constitute a durable form with minimal metabolism which can usually survive starvation. As it is formed from the original cell and no new cell is formed it is not considered reproduction.
