Open in App
Solution

Strong acids: An acid that completely dissociates into the water, is understood to be a strong acid.

Sulphuric acid (H2SO4) is a strong acid because:

  • It completely ionizes or dissociates to formH+ and SO42-when it is dissolved in water.
  • In dilute solutions the hydrogen sulfate ions also dissociate to form more hydronium ion H3O+and sulfate ions SO42-.
