Solution

Antidiuretic hormone:

  1. Antidiuretic hormone is a naturally occurring hormone which helps in controlling many physical processes and life-threatening conditions including septic shocks and bleeding abnormalities.
  2. It is activated by the posterior part of the pituitary gland.
  3. It mainly regulates and balance the amount of water in the blood.
  4. It stimulates the constriction of blood vessels which results in increase of blood pressure, hence it is also called vasopressin hormone.
  5. It acts at the kidney and triggers the resorption of water and electrolytes by the distal tubules.
  6. It conserves the volume of the fluid in the body by decreasing the water loss through diuresis, hence it is called antidiuretic hormone.
