Why is the aorta connected to the left ventricle while the pulmonary vein to the left atrium?

Open in App
Solution

The left ventricle is one of the four chambers of the heart which is present in the lower part of the heart towards the left side. This chamber finally pumps the oxygenated blood out of the heart so that it can reach all the other parts of the body. Hence, it is connected to the aorta which is also the largest artery in the human body. [2 Marks]

The oxygenated blood from the right and the left side of the lungs reaches the left atrium through the respective pulmonary vein. This is why the pulmonary vein is connected to the left atrium. [1 Mark]
