Why is the apple referred to as a false fruit?

After fertilization in plants, ovaries and are converted into fruits and ovules into seeds. Fruits are of 2 types: true and False fruits. True fruits develop from ovaries. False fruits develop from any other part of the plant except ovary. Parts of fruit include exocarp, mesocarp, and endocarp. As Apple does not grow from the ovary, it is a false fruit.
