Why is the cement floor made in small slabs, rather than in a single block? Explain.

  1. The cement floor is not laid as one block.
  2. It is because during summer it expands.
  3. In the case of a single block, there will not be any space for expansion, therefore, it will crack.
  4. When the floor is laid in small blocks leaving a very small space in between the blocks.
  5. This, in turn, allows expansion, and hence, the floor does not crack.
