Question

Why is the chemical equation made more informative?

Open in App
Solution

  • The chemical equation only states about the reactants and products but the reaction conditions are not specified so to carry out a reaction the reaction conditions such as temperature, pressure, energy absorbed or liberated, and the physical state of reactants are also essential which make the chemical equation more meaningful.
  • If the reaction is carried out on the basis of skeletal equation practically it is not possible to carry out such preparation thus chemical equation is made more informative so that by studying the reaction condition it is easier to carry out a particular reaction.
  • As for example for the preparation of NH3(ammonia) the following reaction takes place.
  • N2(g)nitrogen+H2(g)hydrogenFe/Mo4000C-4500C/200atm2NH3(g)ammonia+heat

Thus with the help of the above equation, we can easily maintain the reaction condition for the preparation of ammonia.
